• December, 2007: Minisymposium in SIAM Conference on Nonlinear Waves and Coherent Structures: I organize the minisymposium "Justification of asymptotic reductions in space-periodic media" (with G. Schneider) at the SIAM Conference on Nonlinear Waves and Coherent Structures to be held on July 21-24, 2008 in Rome, Italy. The minisymposium will feature eight lectures on justification of amplitude equations for nonlinear PDEs with space-periodic coefficients.
• December, 2007: Minisymposium in the Second Conference on Nonlinear Science and Complexity: I organize the minisymposium "Mathematical Modeling of Nonlinear Structures in Bose-Einstein Condensates" (with V. Konotop) at the Second Conference on Nonlinear Science and Complexity to be held on July 28-31, 2008 in Porto, Portugal. The minisymposium will feature twelve presentations on existence, stability and nonlinear dynamics of localized solutions of the Gross-Pitaevskii equation.
• November, 2007: New graduate student: My group on mathematical modelling in physical sciences is joined by Ahmed Hassan Abdelrazec in his M.Sc. program. Ahmed joined our graduate program from Helwan University in Cairo, Egypt to carry out a research project on convergence of numerical Adomian methods for differential equations.
• August, 2007: The textbook "Numerical Mathematics" is released: The first print of the textbook "Numerical Mathematics" written by me and M. Grasselli has just been released. The book will be adopted on all numerical analysis courses in McMaster University for 2007-2008 as well as it will be adopted as a supplementary text in other mathematical courses.
• April, 2007: New graduate student: My group on mathematical modelling in physical sciences is joined by Alicia Hanebach in her M.Sc. program. Alicia is transferring to our program from the Engineering Physics Department of McMaster University to carry out a research project on nonlinear PDEs with space-periodic coefficients.
• April, 2007: New graduate student: My group on mathematical modelling in physical sciences is joined by Anton Sakovich in his M.Sc. program. Anton is arriving to McMaster University from Minsk, Belarus to conduct research on solitary waves in nonlinear PDEs.
• March, 2007: Member of the Scientific Committee: I will act as a Scientific Organizer of the Conference on "Nonlinear Science and Complexity" to be held on July 28-31, 2008 in Porto, Portugal.
• February, 2007: New postdoctoral fellow: My group on mathematical modelling in physical sciences is joined by Clement Gallo who will be arriving to McMaster University from University of Orsey, Paris. Clement is specializing in the areas of analysis of well-posedness of nonlinear PDEs and stability of nonlinear waves.
• October, 2006: Minisymposium in SIAM Conference on Dynamical Systems and Applications: I organize the minisymposium "Nonlinear waves in lattices and periodic potentials" (with A. Champneys) at the SIAM Conference on Dynamical Systems and Applications to be held on May 28-31, 2007 in Snowbird, UT, USA. The minisymposium will feature six lectures on localized solutions in lattices and periodic potentials.
• August, 2006: Scientific Organizer of the Joint AARMS-CRM Workshop: I will act as a scientific organizer of the workshop on Recent Advances in Functional and Delay Differential Equations in Halifax, NS for November 1-6, 2007 together with H. Brunner (Memorial) and A.R. Humphries (McGill).
• July, 2006: Member of the Editorial Board: I will act as a member of the editorial board for the journal "Transactions of Nonlinear Science and Complexity" published by World Scientific (editors: A.C.J. Luo and G. Zaslavsky).
