Latest news: Prof. Dmitry Pelinovsky
- March, 2005: New postdoc, Dr. Vladimir Gubernov
(Ph.D. - ADFA, 2003): My group on mathematical modeling in physical sciences
will be joined by a new postdoctoral fellow, Dr. Vladimir Gubernov for August, 2005
- August, 2007. Vladimir's expertise is in computations of Evans function, analysis of Bose-Einstein
condensates and stability of fronts in reaction-diffusion equations.
- October, 2004: Minisymposium in SIAM Conference on Applications of Dynamical
Systems: I organize the minisymposium "Lattice solitons in discrete equations" (with A.Champneys) at the
SIAM Conference on Applications of Dynamical Systems in May 20-24, 2005, Snowbird, USA.
The minisymposium will feature specialized lectures on mathematical analysis and applications
of lattice solitons.
- July, 2004: Scientific Program Committee at the Fourth Conference on
Nonlinear Evolution Equations: I will act as a member of the Scientific Program
Committee at the Fourth International Conference on Nonlinear Evolution Equations
and Wave Phenomena in April 11-14, 2005, Athens, GA, USA.
- May, 2004: Premium Research Excellence Award: I have
received the PREA Award in Round 10 Competition. This award is granted to
young researchers in Ontario for five years to support his research group and
activities. In Round 10 competition, there were 18 applications from McMaster, out
of which only three applications were approved. This grant will allow to hire
two postdoctoral fellows in the next few years.
- April, 2004: Minisymposium in SIAM Conference on Nonlinear Waves:
I organize the minisymposium "Advances in embedded solitons" (with J. Yang) at the
SIAM Conference on Nonlinear Waves in October 2-5, 2004, Orlando, FL, USA.
The minisymposium will feature six specialized lectures on theory and applications
of embedded solitons in nonlinear optics.
- March, 2004: CFI/OIT Maintenance Grant Award:
I have received the mini-grant "Operations and Maintenance in supprt of new OPS
project" from CFI/OIT. The grant will cover costs of technical personel support and
the maintenance contractor support for 2004-2005, who will be working in support of
the CFI/OIT-funded computing infrastructure in my group. The CFI/OIT main grant
(New Opportunity Award) was extended from March, 2004 to September, 2005.
- March, 2004: Extension of NSERC Discovery Grant
My NSERC grant "Theory and modelling of the periodic nonlinear Schrodinger equation"
was extended for one additional year of 2005-2006. The grant has thus become a five-year
program in my research for 2001-2006.
